“Katie has been a great support over the last 6 months for a first time mom who knew very little about breast feeding. She takes the time to understand you and your baby, and provides information, and help, tailored to your specific needs. Feeding on demand can be a worrisome process to navigate, with Katie’s help my daughter has gained the weight she needs to stay healthy. Thank you for the expert advice and kindness- appreciate you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my insurance cover my prenatal lactation consult?

Cuddles and Milk is in-network with Aetna and The Lactation Network. You must apply to The Lactation Network in order to receive coverage, use my name as the IBCLC who referred you. Lactation Network visits require a copay of $30. If you do not have insurance I also accept HSA, flex spending, and self-pay.

How do I set up an appointment with you?

When should I see you?

I recommend seeing me in the last trimester of your pregnancy. You want useful information to be fresh in your tired mind in those early days and having a consult with me assures you’ll know what to do if you need extra help.

How bad will breastfeeding hurt?

It’s NEVER supposed to hurt! I do not care what ANYONE told you (hospital, nurse, mom), as an expert IBCLC, I’m telling you — breastfeeding should never be painful.

When should I start pumping to go back to work?

This depends on multiple factors like feeding goals, time off work, etc. If breastfeeding is going well, I usually recommend introducing an occasional bottle between 4-8 weeks to ease the transition back to work when your baby will be drinking bottles. If you’re lucky enough to have 3-4 months off, I recommend starting a freezer stash of pumped milk about a month before returning to work.

Can virtual lactation support really help me?

YES! I’m sure I’m biased, but I solely do telehealth lactation consultant visits because access to breastfeeding support should be available to anyone, anywhere. I’m proud to offer this exclusive service to anyone considering it.
